I grew up in the Netherlands where I did my formal classic cuisine training with 3 high class restaurants. Once qualified adventure took me to Spain and in 1995 I came to the UK. In the UK I have gained many accolades which included winning the Somerset dining pub of the year on more than one occasion, the AA pub of the year for Great Britain, top 20 Gastro pubs, 1 and 2 AA rosettes, entries into the AA guide, Good Food Guide, Michelin Guide, Alisdair Salway’s pleasant places to eat, Good Pub Guide.
Since 2011 I have worked as a chef lecturer at the West Somerset College in Minehead. I teach post 16 students the NVQ level 2 Professional Cookery and the BTEC level 3 national diploma in hospitality. I also teach apprentice chefs and adult learners. Most of my teaching time takes place in the kitchen which I absolutely love. I am still available for in home cooking lessons and select dinner parties.
